White Knight Chronicles Origin

Happy new year guys!! I will start off 2012, reviewing 'White Knight Chronicles Origin' the psp game. I am not too sure about the relation between the psp and the ps3 ones, i would assume they are different. Since i can get the psp version for free, i did and so completed the game. This game isnt as great as you think it is(although the game cover/trailers etc. may make it seems freaking awesome). I only realised i was being fooled by the outlooks of the game when i was already 1/3 through the game story! Eventually completed the game story, carrying on with doing after-game quests till i was so sick of it that i quit. Wkc origin was released in Feb 2011, about 1 year after the released of the 1st Wkc. If you enjoy the 1st Wkc, i guess you would enjoy this origin. Personally, i would just say this game fails to make it to my list of 'good games'.

My rating : 6.3/10
Gamefaqs rating : 7.4/10
Estimated playtime : 15-25 hours

Goods : Decent storyline, in-game bosses looks dominating/fearful (serves as a motivation to carry on the game.), really wide variety of ingredients/recipes/equipments (exploration in this game is never-ending!)

Bads : Unappealing gameplay/game-interface, pretty poor graphics, sucky display of equipments (even lvl 70 equipments looks faggy and gay), only a few kind of in-game mobs (Just a color change, it is then considered a new mob.....), certain obvious wall glitches
*Dont be mistaken, gameplay is definitely NOT turn-based
-Game story, its simple to understand. War between countries, mainly between Yshrenia and Athwan. Yshrenia created the Knights and they are the 'bad guys'. You, unknowingly on the Athwan side have to fight against the Yshrenia Knights in order to gain back the empire. Simple as that!
-The game works in a team with 4 members questing, you can choose to recruit a random guy after every quest. The level of the random guy depends on the level of the quest. If you can complete a high level quest, you can recruit a OP guy thats it. Theres a online feature for 4, but sadly none of my friends play this game so i dont know shit about online.
-Theres a online feature Gameplay wise, its slow-paced and boring. Its just like a mobile battleon, wielding weapons and attacking the enemy constanly just by mashing the 'Basic Attack' key. You can use other skills of course, however its still nothing impressive. For example, a rank 'S' skill which deals great damage, is just 2 basic slashes and then ending with a spinning slash. Lame much?
-To make things tougher, skills can only be obtained by recruiting people and doing their quests. These people would then give you one of their skill as a reward. Its a very troublesome and boring task, yes i know. Well thats just how the game works i guess.
-One of the better features of the game, would be the character's chroma (Different color chroma affect the growth of your stats differentely as you level up) and most importantly it enables you to transform! Starting off you will just be a normal human, but with chroma you are able to transform into something way cooler, like in picture above! It depends on the green bar at the bottom left of your combat screen, once its max your then able to transform, becoming stronger according to the color of the chroma you choose. I admit that this feature keeps me hyped for a few days, but well it can get boring if you keep transforming. Indeed, i got bored after a few days as i have been transforming in like every single match.
-Optimus attacks, the only skills that looks fancy. Require all 4 members to be alive and a number of max green bars to activate, and of course in exchange it deals massive damage! These optimus attacks are unlocked along the way as you defeat story boss after story boss.
Moving on to the other features of the game, regardless good or bad........
1. OP-looking bosses, here you go! Kind of motivated me to play till lvl 73, so yeah i guess thats 1 good point about the game (being able to keep the audience playing). Normal mobs are just disappointing but i guess no one cares less (as people are always interested in the 'main course' than the 'appetizer')!
2. Crafting can never be left out in RPGs, so here it is! There are billions of crafting ingredients, so its all up to you to find them all  (given if you are willing to put in a million hours in the game). The higher level you are, killing high level bosses, getting high grade ingredients, forming god tier equipments and recipes. Thats just how crafting works, i would say 1 of the positive features of the game.
3. Pretty poor graphics (but i guess i cant expect much from the psp). Certain obvious wall glitches (that would mean mobs running into walls, or they suddenly pop out from the ground). That i guess can be forgiven, as it doesnt really affect my gameplay throughout the game.
Hmmm, maybe i should just mention this. At the start of the game, they give you 3 choices. I am not too sure if you choose the different choices, you would have different endings? As these choice-picking only shows up once which is listed on the picture above. Just saying.
Thats about it for Wkc origins. Overall experience for me > an rpg slightly below average, could be better if they improve the faggy looking equips etc. Maybe i will give the ps3 ones a try as now you are able to use the White Knight to combat. So yeah, that ends the review!

Have a nice day!
