Everything starts with a highschool male, Sakai Yuji who believes that 'supernatural' does not exist in this world and life would go on the same as everyday. This mentality of his was all crushed in just a day when he was heading to school. Time freezes, anyone and anything remains stagnant. This 'time freeze' phenomenon is known as the Fuzetsu. Supernatural beings known as 'Rinne' appears and are able to move around in the Fuzetsu, devouring the power of existense of everyone trapped in it. The 'Rinne' notices him and was surprised that Yuji wasnt affected by the Fuzetsu, hence taking interest in devouring him first. In this instance, a cute girl dashes out, facing the 'Rinne'. 'Flame-haired Blazing-eyed hunter' was her name, and it was later known to Yuji that she is a Flame haze who hunts down supernatural beings causing distortion to the balance of existence in the world. She defeated the 'Rinne', leaving Yuji with many confusions of himself and the world.

It was later known that the real Yuji is dead, and the reason why the current Yuji is still living was due to the presence of the blue-flame in his chest. However, this blue-flame would burned out slowly, eventually disappears with the carrier. Anyone with the blue-flame in them has already been devoured off their power of existence, hence they will disappear sooner or later without anyone knowing. They are known as 'torches'. The reason why Yuji was able to move in the Fuzetsu, being that he was a mystes (possesses a treasure stored within him). This treasure is known as 'Hougu'. As Yuji slowly accepts the fact that he is a torch, he decides to jion the flame haze in her fights and named her Shana. As they moves on, they will encounter more fights and other flame hazes, where the exciting adventure will begins!

Pardon me for cramping all the different terms on you guys all at once (Hougu, torches, Rinne etc.). Yes, thats one reason why this anime has a confusing start. It cramps your mind with all the weird words, which you wont be able to decipher all at once. But still, as you keep watching, you will tend to slowly adapt to the different terms and grasp onto the main storyline. The confusing start can be very discouraging, but please dont give up on this anime, it will be your biggest regret!

This post will be all on Season 1 only, i will put up season 2 in my next post. Opening songs, there are 2. 1st opening is Hishoku no sora, by mami kawada. 2nd opening is Being, by Kotoko. Both i would say are masterpieces, greatest openings ever!!! 'Being' is my personal favourite.
