Megaman Maverick Hunter X
Just done playing some ps3 demos (Darkness II, Mass effect 3 etc.), its been like 7-8 months since i last downloaded free demos. However, todays game post have nothing to do with the ps3 but the psp. One of Capcom's best games, the Megaman X series! 'Megaman Maverick Hunter X', is the remake of Megaman X (thats what my friend told me). I never touch any Megaman games before X4 because i did not have the playstation consoles before that. This game is fun in its own way. You get to use X fighting against oppositions, getting down to the root of evil. You get to play Vile as well (But that is only possible after clearing the game once with X). Megaman Maverick Hunter X was released around 2006 for the PSP.
My rating: 7.8/10
Gamefaqs rating: 8.4/10
Estimated playtime: 7-12 hours
Goods: Straightforward storyline (easy to understand), simple and fun gameplay, the after-game features (get to play as the bad guy, Vile), presence of upgrades/subtanks (of course you have to find them yourself).
Bads: Gameplay can be really stiff at the start (without dash), boss fights are relatively easy (once attack pattern is figured out), personally i didn really like Vile's ending
-Starting off with the game plot. A highly advanced robot with human level intelligence and emotions was first discovered by a human archaelogist in the ruins of a research facility. This robot was given the name, X. Decisions were made to mass produced X into human-like-robots called Reploids, designed to aid humankind. However, as population of a kind increases, theres bound to have crimes. These criminals are known as Mavericks, and are to be hunt down by Maverick Hunters (It is as simple as police catching bad guys). The problem was made worse by Sigma, a high ranking commander of the hunters who suddenly turned Maverick and head the rebellion against the humans. X, along with the other Maverick hunters are down with the task to stop Sigma and his maverick army. Simply to put, X is fighting for justice and protecting the humans.

-Megaman X has been the same throughout all its games. Armed with his X-buster, he is able to shoot multiple shots and also capable of charging his buster and releasing for a more powerful shot. 'Jump' to reach higher heights and for dodging incoming missles etc. 'Dash', sadly is not given at the start. You have to find the boots upgrade in order for you to dash. Skills are obtained by defeating the Maverick leaders. Gameplay is really simple (maybe some time to adapt), but yeah its kind of fun once you get the hang of it.
-This game is not all about fighting/advancing and nothing else left to do. You can go through defeated stages again, not to fight monsters but to look for items. These items includes Sub-tanks (Stores collected health/energy capsules and can be use for regeneration), Life-ups (increases maximum health by 2 units onto the life bar) and even upgrade parts (gives you certain boosts-up to your movement/attack).
-The after-game features. Vile is unlocked as a playable character (new playstyle and a mind-blasting skill tree etc.), definitely a great unlockable. The movie is unlocked as well i guess (can be viewed on the main page once you start the game). The main feature should be the availability of Vile and his reasons of fighting. Most importanly what will be his outcome!!
Moving on to other features of the game, that i didn really fancy about.....
1. Stiff gameplay at the start. Without dash, this game will be so damn boring. Running to enemies like a fool, jumping over missles like a tomato jumping across the water. Fucked up shit. Thats how i feel when i start the game realising dash is not a free given control. It can be real discouraging for anyone to continue the game.
2. Boss fights are relatively easy. All maverick leaders have their weaknesses, figure them out and they are yours to trash! Other bosses have no elemental weakness, just figure out their pattern and the battle will be a breeze. However, hard mode does require more precise skills and pattern analyzation. Good luck bros!
3. Vile's ending. It just did not turn out to be what i expect. To me, its quite a disappointment. Anyways, i would prefer not to spoil it.
About time for conclusion. This game is decent and fun (actually the entire X series is fun to play), although it might not look like it by just looking at these screenshots. Some idiot shooting bullets from his arm, retarded much? That might be the thoughts for some of you 'megaman greenhorns' out there. Just give it a try, you will not regret it! So yeah, that ends the review!
Have a nice day!
