Crimsongem Saga

Finally back from the crazy routine of school and tests!! Today, i will be doing a review on the psp game, Crimsongem Saga. Its a RPG (role-play game), so you get to control your characters to execute moves and stuff as you deem fit. A short introduction of RPG, you get the freedom of leveling your characters, equiping different types of equipments and skills upgrading etc. But the story plot is fixed, you will have to follow and get along with the story as it goes on. There will not be the option of getting different endings etc.  There will only be 1 plot, 1 ending (This theory goes for most of the RPGs out there). This game was released in 2009, not too far back, so its still not too late to give this game a try! In my opinion, this game is good along with a solid plot. Freedom of characters build-up is always great. Gameplay wise, its easy to adapt, its those basic types of RPG gameplay you would expect, select and execute commands etc.

Gamefaqs rating : 7.8/10
My rating : 7.5/10
Estimated playtime : 20-30 hours

Goods : Solid story plot. Acquire the 'ambush' feature (Makes gameplay more interesting). Easy-to-adapt gameplay. Poses challenges (Grinding is required to advance etc).

Bads : Equipments worn cant be displayed (Can be discouraging). Gameplay time stacks even if you put your psp to sleep mode (Myself, completed the game in 220 hours......WTF!?!)
First of all, lets begin with a short summary of the plot. The game starts as YOU, Killian Rohcoff graduates from a training school. It was known that anyone who graduates from the school have the chances of becoming future warriors/knights. Killian, being one of them, could also have the privilege of becoming a royal knight. Things were fine until he fought his first battle. He, along with his entire squad were slaughtered in bloodshed. In the midst of chaos, Killian was rescued and thus survived. He was rescued by a pretty girl, named Spinel, a theif who hunts for treasure. It was later known that the person who massacred Killian's squad was hunting for the wicked stones. By bringing wicked stones together, a powerful ancient artifact known as the Crimson Gem could be forged. Killian, who wants to avenge his squad, moves on as he meets more fellow comrades where the exciting adventure will begins!
-Gameplay wise, its pretty good i would say. Detailed and well-managed, understanding the gameplay system would be a easy task. All these, i would mean in-battle play. A maximum of 4 people in your team. During your turn of play, options will be available for you to choose from (Attack/Block/Items/Magic etc.). Winning or losing battles depends on how you play, so think wisely before executing the commands. Though i may make it sound confusing, it is just a very simple concept, so no worries!
-Now, off-battle play. You get to move around the map, moving from one destination to the other. Along the way, there will be monsters lurking around. This is where the 'ambush' feature can be in place. If you touches the monsters when they did not notice you, this is count as a 'ambush'. You will be able to deal a immediate combined team attack on the monsters. Real effective way of gaining easy exp from these mobs. However, if you are the one getting 'ambushed'....Good luck to you. If you touches the monsters and they notices you, there will be "!" symbol on the their head. Battle will still in effect, this time no preemptive strike, it will just be a normal battle.
-There will also be a skill customization system, where skills can be acquired by inputting skill points (SP). SP can be acquired by defeating mobs. The stronger the mobs, the higher the SP. The number of skills available for 1 character is alot, at least more than 10. Since there are several characters, there will be lots of skills to be acquired, which can serves as a encouragment to start grinding! Another unique feature of this game is the combination attacks skill, of up to 2-4 members. These skills are flashy and able to deal a massive amount of damage, however some requirements are to be met.
-Another unique feature of the game is the absence of revival potions. That would mean characters cant die!?! Hah, not that crazy. Characters can still die, however when the battle ends, the character will be automatically revived with 1 hp. So there is no need for any revival potions. This feature is special, as most RPGs will always have revival pots, so i think its worth mentioning. The absence of revival potions arent gonna make this game easier. Want to know why? Play it and you will know!
Concluding everything that i have say. A averagely good RPG, easy to understand and still have the standard difficulty present in most RPGs. Current RPGs are getting more special and complicated, so this game can be said to be the basic foundation of RPG games. Dont hesitate, give it a try!

Have a nice day!
